Good to hear from you...very interesting post. Looking forward to an expansion of these insights.

I dunno... "I was busy"... in Iraq? I guess I'll accept that.

Hope all follows your optimism!

And belated thanks for commenting on my chalk drawing post of a couple weeks ago!

don't want to be discouraging, but we hardly ever hear any news other than the Bomb O' The Day back home. At least that's the case in mainstream news. For some reason we still take those institutions seriously.
Glad to see not everyone has been totally alienated by the lack of posts.

I've actually heard of such news in the Malaysian press, about how the tribal leaders are helping to counter the spread of Al-Qaeda's influence by encouraging their tribes to side with the Iraqi police.

Definitely a good thing.

And considering you're not exactly in the "Green Zone" (even if you were, it's been compromised), don't think anyone holds any fault if you were not updating because you were busy keeping people alive.

Keep safe.

Wow! Can't wait to hear more. Thanks for posting.
NPR maintained something close to cautious optimism as it reported three Sunni insurgent groups turning on AQI. They hastened to add that the groups aren't pro-American, but whatever.

Keep the real news coming. As always, Thanks For Your Service!

Great post and very interesting. Really good to hear from you.

Good to hear the tide is turning, even if it's only a little. Be careful out there!

Good news, i havent heard anything from the news sources in my area but then again unless its bad news they dont seem to think its news worthy.

From my understanding the tribal leaders have a huge impact on the people of Iraq so it seems to me that something that doesnt seem to that big of a deal actually can end up to be a really big deal and possibly end up spreading influence throughout Iraq. Sounds very optimistic in Iraq to me, but maybe thats just my optimistic point of view.
